The chin is an often overlooked area when analyzing facial features. In men, a strong chin can often contribute to a confident, masculine look. In women, a strong chin can add balance to a “top-heavy” face to harmonize features. A chin implant can create a more balanced profile by augmenting a weak, receding chin; reducing a deep fold under the lower lip; or widening a small chin.

One aspect of facial aging is the loss of bone of the jaw bone (mandible), which predictably leads to bony loss just lateral to the chin, giving more prominence to the jowls. Augmenting this pre-jowl groove can improve the contour of the jawline, straightening and elongating the jaw, with patients very pleased with the result.
