RHINOPLASTY

Of all plastic surgery procedures, nose enhancement, or rhinoplasty, is among the most common and satisfying for patients. Rhinoplasty can reduce your nose’s size; sculpt the shape of the nostrils, tip, or bridge; or alter its slope or angle. Rhinoplasty is sometimes carried out in conjunction with functional nasal airway surgery, such as septoplasty or turbinate reduction, to improve nasal breathing.

Special considerations in rhinoplasty include attention to the nasal airway so as to not negatively affect breathing, as altering the nasal skeleton’s support can lead to dynamic problems with breathing if not carried out with the appropriate restoration of support.

There are multiple surgical approaches to rhinoplasty, and Dr. Kundaria is skilled at both. With an endonasal technique, no external incisions present on the outside of the nose, though less of the nasal anatomy is accessible. Using an open technique, more of the nasal anatomy is available for manipulation, though with a longer healing time. Every surgery is thoughtfully crafted to match the patient’s expectations and goals.

Whichever technique is being utilized, Dr. Kundaria’s goal is to give his patients the best long term result. This is especially important in rhinoplasty, as the “final” result is not in 6 months or 1 year after surgery, but rather several years after surgery.
