INTENSE PULSED LIGHT – PHOTOFACIAL IPL
IPL Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is similar to laser technology, but instead of consisting of a single wavelength, is made up of several wavelengths, and delivered in short controlled pulses which control the depth of penetration into the skin. IPL has many applications, ranging from hair removal, acne treatment, and improvement in melasma, to general skin rejuvenation.
What issues do IPL Photofacials address?
• Age spots
• Brown spots
• Broken capillaries around the face and nose
• Freckles on the face, chest and hands
• Dark circles beneath the eyes
• Uneven skin texture
• Discoloration due to sun damage
How do IPL Photofacials work?
• Your IPL photofacial treatment will typically start with the gentle application of a layer of ultrasound gel. A hand piece is then applied to your skin.
• The IPL hand device delivers a broad spectrum of light to the skin. The blood and melanin of the skin absorb the light, triggering your body’s natural healing process. As your body works to heal itself, it removes damaged tissue, discoloration and irregularities.
• Multiple sessions are recommended for optimum results.
Are you a candidate for IPL Photofacials?
• IPL treatments are not safe for darker skin tones. To find out if you are a candidate, please schedule your consultation.
At Nuance Facial Plastics, all treatments are performed by Dr. Summit Kundaria, in contrast to many other clinics and medical spas, where IPL treatments are typically done by aestheticians or nurses. Having an experienced surgeon perform the procedures enables the patients to get the most out of every IPL Photofacial.

Get in Touch
The Nuance Facial Plastics Blog is here to give you the most honest, up to date information from us to you, in our “sponsored by nobody” style. Our discussions will include topics that interest our readers, with a focus on facial plastic surgery. We will use this space to answer frequently asked questions and also discuss current trends, new products, and emergent technologies. Information is widely available on the internet, but good information that is not marketing material in disguise is hard to find, and often times constitutes a majority of what patients read as their “research”. The Nuance Facial Plastics Blog differs, as we are an independent practice that has no exclusive deals with any vendors, companies, or other entities that would influence the quality and honesty of the information we provide you.
Our First Series
One of the most common discussions that we have with patients are about the differences between products that we offer, as there is some overlap. The single most common question we get asked is, “what is the difference between Botox and Dysport?”. Our first three-part series will explore the differences between the three neuromodulators currently available in the USA, Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. Several topics, such as differences in the strength, longevity, or “spread” between the products will be discussed. Despite being broken into a three-part series, there is quite a lot of information, as the information from these posts are rooted in science, and the claims are supported by multiple articles published in high quality, peer-reviewed medical literature.
